ABOUT THE ARTIST

I began my art education at Brown, earned a B.F.A. from the School of Visual Arts in New York and an M.F.A. degree from the New York Academy of Art. Over the last 30 years, I’ve tackled all sorts of projects, made illustrations, designed novelties, ceiling tiles and brochures, created store and window displays, built props for the theater, decorated mansions and offices and painted murals in all sorts of buildings, and sold paintings and drawings in galleries.

I’m inspired by the history of art, especially 18th-Century French painting, fascinated by the art of the 20th century and immersed in the constant stream of commercial art that defines the look of the 21st. I'm still looking for a way to unite all of these different currents.

The work shown on this site gives an idea of the variety of my output. The retrospective section give an overview of the changes in my work over the years. The murals speak of the depth of my attachment to the art of the past, and the illustrations represent a variety of commercial projects.
